Your facelift surgery will be performed at Crittenton Hospital or Beaumont Hospital in Dearborn metro Detroit. Our facelift procedure is designed to remove wrinkles caused by loose skin and to tighten the fatty tissues of the face and neck resulting in a more youthful appearance.
It’s natural for everyone who contemplates a traditional facelift surgery is concerned with the degree and duration of improvement. The extent of improvement depends on the degree of wrinkling present; if it is marked, the results may be dramatic. If early laxity is of concern then the facelift is performed preemptively to maintain a youthful neck and jawline, the improvement may be more subtle – remarks will often be made that the skin looks more “alive”.
The duration of the facelift procedure is approximately 10 years. As such, we, at Michigan Facial Aesthetic Surgeons, describe aging using the escalator analogy. If we think of aging as progressively moving up on an escalator, we can think of the facelift as moving you ten steps back. The escalator does not stop, nor does normal aging. However, with sun protection and adherence to a daily skin regimen, you can protect your investment for many years to come.

The facelift surgery is usually done as an outpatient under local anesthesia with sedation or under general anesthetic at a fully accredited facility at Crittenton or Beaumont Hospital. We use recent technical advances in Michigan health to achieve your desired look with the minimal amount of surgery possible. Such minimally invasive facelift techniques ensure quicker down times and a speedier recovery.
There is little pain in the post-operative period. A large dressing will remain on you for one to two days to keep the cheek and neck skin in place while healing initially occurs. The face is somewhat discolored and swollen following surgery; the swelling subsides in a few days while the discoloration takes about one week to fully disappear. The patient returns on two occasions for suture removal and to check on healing. Women may begin to wear make-up after 7-8 days and should be able to return to work soon after that.
We are board certified, fellowship trained otolaryngologists and facial plastic surgeons who trained with master surgeons in the field of facial plastic surgery in Michigan and beyond. We do not believe a cookie-cutter operation is in your best interest. Each surgery is specifically tailored to your desires. We want to form lasting bonds with our patients and are with you every step of the way from preoperative consultation to decades in the postoperative period!
