A brow lift creates the appearance of large, youthful eyes – there is often a lessening of the “crow’s feet” that comes with aging skin around the eye. Depending on the amount and the location of the person’s hair, incisions may be hidden directly above the brows, in forehead creases or along the front of the hairline. Brow lift and forehead corrections are not benefited by the facelift or blepharoplasty operation but can be dramatically improved with a brow lift and forehead lift – 3 to 5 small incisions placed behind the hairline to allow small telescopes to help elevate the brows.
The brow lift operation generally takes about 45 minutes to an hour and can be performed under local with a light sedation or under general anesthetic. Mild swelling and discoloration usually develops around the eyes but disappears in most cases by the 7th day after surgery. On occasion a small drain may be used to prevent accumulation of small pockets of fluid. This is removed the day after brow lift surgery. A large bulky dressing is worn for 72 hours or as needed.
